The Chiang Mai WordPress community uses “Tuk-tuk Wapuu” as their key character. This is actually the character I designed for WordCamp Asia 2020!

Seeing it featured prominently on the Chiang Mai WordPress Community website and in their meetup slides gives me such a special sense of connection 😊.

When I first designed Tuk-tuk Wapuu for WordCamp Asia, I never imagined I would encounter my own creation again in this way. It has been incredibly helpful during self-introductions at meetups—I just say, “I’m the one who designed this!” and it’s an instant icebreaker.

Tuk-tuk Wapuu is front and center on the Chiang Mai WordPress Community homepage!

By the way, did you know that Wapuu originally was born in the Japanese community? If you’re curious about how this adorable mascot came to be, I highly recommend checking out the “History of Wapuu”!

How did Wapuu get started? Read about the Wapuu origin story. This idea at a WordCamp Tokyo after-party is now a global WordPress trend.

Actually, while I’ve attended several meetups in Chiang Mai before, this is my first time writing a report about it. Why now? Because the theme of the day was the “1-Month Blogging Challenge”!

The 1st WPCNX Blogging Challenge (May 2026) – WP CNX

Are you using WordPress to blog? Are you trying to publish a book one day, build an audience, or rank for the terms that bring clients to your business?

My goal for this month is to write a total of 5 articles—one per week. (And yes, I’m already running a bit behind schedule! 💦)

This first post is my official declaration to stick with the challenge. Stay tuned!
